Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the season-opening trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the final seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty victory.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
